Tempered Glass

Tempered glass, often referred to as toughened glass, is a type of safety glass with enhanced strength and breakage resistance. This is achieved through a specific manufacturing process involving controlled heating and rapid cooling, creating a state of high surface compression and internal tension.

1

Cutting & Shaping

The process begins with cutting the glass to the desired shape, followed by polishing the edges to eliminate sharp edges or burrs.

2

Heating

The glass is heated to a high temperature of about 600°C (1112°F) in a specialized tempering furnace.

3

Rapid Cooling

The glass is rapidly cooled through a controlled air or quenching process, creating surface compression and internal tension.

4

Balancing

The cooled glass is subjected to controlled cooling to balance the internal tension and surface compression, ensuring strength and safety.

4-5 times stronger than regular glass of the same thickness

When broken, shatters into small, harmless fragments with rounded edges

Withstands higher temperatures than regular glass

More durable surface that resists scratches and abrasions

Consistent optical quality with minimal distortion

Regular Glass Breakage

Breaks into sharp, dangerous shards that can cause serious injury

Tempered Glass Breakage

Shatters into small, harmless fragments with rounded edges

Double Glazing Glass

Double glazing glass consists of two glass panes separated by a spacer filled with air or gas. This innovative design creates an insulating barrier that significantly improves thermal performance and energy efficiency in buildings.

1

Two glass sheets are precisely cut to the desired size and shape with varying thicknesses depending on insulation requirements.

2

A spacer, typically made of materials like aluminum, is positioned along the edges of one glass pane to establish a gap between panes.

3

The two glass panes, along with the spacer, are carefully sealed together to form a tight and well-sealed unit, preventing moisture entry.

4

A moisture-absorbing desiccant is added within the spacer to prevent condensation and ensure clarity between panes.

5

The gap between panes is filled with insulating gas like argon or krypton, which are denser than air and improve thermal insulation.

Reduces heat transfer by up to 50% compared to single-pane glass

Can reduce heating and cooling costs by 10-20% annually

Reduces external noise by 20-35 decibels for quieter interiors

Minimizes condensation on interior glass surfaces

More difficult to break than single-pane glass

Reduces UV radiation that can fade furniture and flooring

Gas Type Thermal Conductivity Cost Performance Best For
Air Standard Lowest Basic Budget applications
Argon 34% better than air Moderate Excellent Most residential applications
Krypton 50% better than air Higher Superior High-performance buildings

Laminated Glass

Laminated glass is a safety glass made by bonding two or more layers of glass with an interlayer material, like PVB (Polyvinyl Butyral) or EVA (Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate). This interlayer holds the glass together even when broken, providing exceptional safety and security.

Glass layers are precisely cut to the required size and shape

PVB or EVA interlayer material is prepared and cut to match glass dimensions

Glass and interlayer are stacked together in the proper sequence

The assembly undergoes heat and pressure in an autoclave to bond layers securely

PVB (Polyvinyl Butyral)
  • Most common interlayer material
  • Excellent optical clarity
  • Strong adhesion to glass
  • Good UV resistance
  • Cost-effective solution
  • Widely available
EVA (Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate)
  • Enhanced UV stability
  • Better moisture resistance
  • Can incorporate decorative elements
  • Higher temperature resistance
  • Slightly higher cost
  • Specialized applications
